What has the United States government decided to do about food waste? Very little... But, we must give credit to the EPA, whom directs the Food Recovery Challenge, and the USDA collects information about food losses at the retail and consumer levels, and there may be more- but that's still not nearly enough! According to NRDC's national report, "about 40% of food in this country goes uneaten."
On NRDC's blog Switchboard Dana Gunders writes an interesting article titled "Dear Government: Food Waste is a Matter of Urgency. Please Take it Seriously." These posters clearly show there was a point when we used to care about wasting food.
